Yes! Many practitioners from community mental health and even private practice refer individuals, couples and families to Eastside Family Renewal Service for treatment of specific concerns. Mental health professionals find making these referrals of benefit to their work with clients for many of the following reasons: · Ethical practice of not performing outside one’s range of expertise or training · Preference to not work with certain issues or populations · Lack of time and schedule availability to work on more than one issue at a time · Avoidance of dual roles (e.g., turning individual therapy into couples or family therapy) · Preparation for other treatments (e.g., resolution of substance use issues or emotion regulation skill training for those preparing to engage in treatment for trauma) · Support of work already underway (e.g., referring parents to Parent Training to help maintain the treatment gains experienced by their child in individual therapy) · Clients request a second-opinion regarding a proposed treatment plan |
